ClayCutter X

A data sheet for the ClayCutter X is available for download.

ClayCutter X represents the very best in state of the art trenching and pipeline route preparation technology. It is not limited or compromised by ocean depth, soil stiffness or the angle of the excavation area. High pressure jet nozzles and water cannons work to make 'CCX' an outstanding product which is easily deployed and extremely versatile.

The ClayCutter X is a unique jetting system powered by high pressure seawater from the surface, provided by AGR's powerful marine diesel pumps. The tool has 3 operating modes which may be alternated using an ROV to control valves subsea. This flexibility allows operators to choose between jetting modes suited to general trench excavation, trench widening, and very hard soils excavation.

CCX is deployed suspended from a DP II vessel of opportunity and does not require direct contact with the seabed.  It can deliver the deep trenches and glory holes required for pipeline ice protection.

Benefits

  • 5m wide trenching in compacted soil up to 500 kPa shear strength
  • Reduces the requirement for other subsea intervention processes
  • Works in a variety of soil types
  • Rapid, robust and reliable during rough handling
  • Unlimited trench or hole depth
  • No restrictions on seabed angle
  • Successful at 870 m depth during the Ormen Lange Southern Field Development
  • Seabed levelling for manifolds
  • Glory Holes can be excavated quickly and economically using CCX

ClayCutter X is capable of continuous pre-trenching in difficult, variable soils.
