Approach to projects
We consider each reservoir management assignment as a discreet project, whose objectives are agreed with our clients to formulate the appropriate workflow and team composition. An AGR Project Manager is assigned to lead the study and act as single point of accountability.
Our hallmark is to work in integrated teams within our own offices in Oslo, Aberdeen, Guildford, Moscow and Almaty, while ensuring full and effective communication with our client as the project progresses. The client may appoint team members from their organisation to work alongside our project team. On occasion we will place individuals within the client’s team.
We have developed specific workflows to estimate uncertainty ranges and to propose risk management actions. Our approach to reservoir modelling – based on defining uncertainty, understanding its implications and the use of ranges of outcomes – generates better business decisions. Simple problems are solved with simple tools. Where the problems are complex, we pursue detailed modelling until we are satisfied that we have predictive tools which allow us to plan the right development. By using the appropriate degree of modelling complexity our projects are efficient and cost effective.
A typical approach to reservoir studies is represented below:

Within our offices, we have PC-based geophysical, geological, petrophysical, well performance and reservoir simulation software, plus specialist tools such as stress analysis software and numerous small in-house programmes tailored to address specific issues not covered by open software. We have permanent licences for the most commonly used software packages and supplement these with ad-hoc licences for other packages as and when required.
UNIX workstations with typical software, e.g. seismic interpretation and reservoir simulation, are also available.
Our various offices are connected through broadband Internet connections and all project data is kept on a central server. An FTP site dedicated to each individual project is typically used to transfer data between AGR Petroleum Services and the client.

Our quality management system is encapsulated in an ISO9001 Quality Manual.
