Test Engineer Lars Solvang is involved with drilling operations when AGR clients plan to carry out a well test. In order to be ready to test a well once drilled, Lars is involved from the early planning stages of a well throughout and has accountability for many important aspects of the project including design, planning, personnel requirements and equipment. When a well test is underway, he would go offshore to supervise and afterwards follow up and capture any learning points.
Lars studied for a degree in Engineering at Trondheim University followed by a Masters in Fluid Dynamics which led him into the sphere of Test Engineering. In 1998, Lars joined Schlumberger as a Junior Field Engineer and spent many years working abroad including Saudi, Azerbaijan, France and the UK before eventually returning to Norway in 2005.
When Lars joined AGR, he had a desire to grow and improve his technical capabilities and also to be given a chance to work independently on the testing element of AGR’s drilling projects. At AGR, he has experienced immense support in his career development and has had the opportunity to participate in many training courses to help him further develop in his role. Lars has worked on various projects all of which have presented different challenges which he enjoys.
The environment at AGR in Stavanger is great, he has a strong bond with his colleagues and it’s a great place to be! If he was to recommend a career at AGR, he would highlight the scope of the challenging drilling projects AGR undertakes, the office environment and social activities that one has the opportunity to be a part of.
