AGR has managed two Bredford Dolphin drilling campaigns in NCS since 2007 having delivered 34 wells to 10 operators.
In 2007, AGR secured a contract with seven Operators (DNO, Lundin Norway, Marathon, BG Norge, Revus, Endeavour, Pertra) to drill more than 18 wells in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea over a three-year-period. The programme was extended by one-and-a-half years.
The second Bredford collaboration agreement where AGR managed the drilling campaign on behalf of four Operators (Lundin, Noreco, RWE Dea and Repsol) was signed in September 2012.
34 wells later, AGR delivered well projects for the following Operators:
- NOIL Energy (AKER BP)
- Pertra (AKER BP)
- Lundin Norway
- Marathon Petroleum Norge (AKER BP)
- BG Norge (Norske Shell)
- ExxonMobil E&P
- VNG Norge
- Premier Oil Norge (AKER BP)
- Noreco (AKER BP).
During both campaigns, AGR provided an all-inclusive rig intake
and Well Project Management
services on the Bredford Dolphin semi-submersible rig in addition to holding all the service company contracts.
The multi-client multi-well rig campaign was a new approach introduced in the Norwegian shelf. We offered our clients to manage the service company contracts in addition to doing what we knew how to do the best - design and drill wells. With a superior supply-chain infrastructure already in place, this meant that we could deliver cost savings to our clients.
Another notable milestone during the first campaign in 2009 was the fact that AGR reached a significant achievement for our company drilling the 400th well delivered within the 10 previous years.
Prior to the first campaign starting, the Bredford Dolphin was not suitable for use on the NCS and did not have Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC). Our experts were in place in the construction yard in Poland overseeing the refurbishment activities to bring the rig up to standard and managed all interfaces between our clients, rig owner and required service companies.
Both of the Bredford Dolphin campaigns have been among the safest and effective rigs on the NCS, several of the wells drilled found oil and gas and have been the first discoveries for several producing fields today (Edvard Grieg, Ivar Aasen, KNARR, JETTE). In our well construction and operational planning, we apply AGR's Well Delivery Process (WDP) ensuring consistency in the delivery and capturing lessons learned to drive continuous improvement of our drilling teams. We use our own iQx software
to capture operational experiences, well data and rig performance.
A film team followed the Skardkollen operation from beginning to the end - the 400th well project AGR was managing. Originally planned as a documentary for a TV series, “Trawlers, Rigs and Rescue,” Force Ten Productions instead created a standalone 30 minute documentary working closely with AGR, AKER BP and Halliburton. The film crew spent more than 2 weeks on board the Bredford Dolphin filming the offshore and onshore teams as they explored the depths of the North Sea.
