OGUK-Awards-2021-Finalists-Announced
We are delighted to announce that AGR has been shortlisted as an industry champion after OGUK, the UK’s leading representative body for the offshore oil and gas industry, revealed its finalists for the 2021 OGUK Awards, in which AGR’s Aberdeen-based Well Management division has been chosen in the ‘Excellence in Decommissioning’ category.

Of the 90 nominees across the eight categories, 27 entrants were selected to run for the prestigious award.

AGR’s submission was based on the recent successful management of planning and wellsite operations for Ireland’s first ever decommissioning project – in particular, decommissioning of 14 platform wells on the Alpha and Bravo platforms in the Kinsale field, in the Celtic Sea.

Working for PSE Kinsale Energy Limited (KEL), our Well Management team delivered efficient operations ahead of budget with an outstanding QHSE performance and in full accordance with regulatory requirements. This outstanding achievement was delivered with a strong work ethic and a high level of collaboration between AGR, KEL and everyone involved.

By adopting a “one team-one purpose” approach, along with a goal to offer the client the most innovative technical solution and mobilise the best team of experts, the Kinsale project group demonstrated how learning from previous lessons, open communication and teamwork can safely deliver cost-effective fit-for-purpose solutions.

Commenting on being named as a finalist, Andrew Stannard, EVP UK/Med/Africa of AGR, (pictured) said:

“We’re thrilled. Being recognised as one of the UK’s leading well decommissioning consultancies is a huge honour and nothing short of what the talented team at AGR Aberdeen deserves.

“To have been chosen as one of just three finalists in this fiercely competitive category is real testament to the hard work we put in day-in-day-out and our long-standing commitment to innovation in delivering decommissioning solutions.”

OGUK CEO, Deirdre Michie OBE, added:

“This shortlist is a real reflection of the great talent and expertise of our energy communities – those that personify the North Sea grit and innovation this industry is known for.

“I am delighted to see this recognition for their accomplishments; keeping the UK’s lights on, hospitals running, and transport going, all while really driving industry toward its net zero goals and transitioning the UK towards a sustainable future.”

The winners will be announced on 8 December at the ceremony taking place both virtually via live stream and physically at P&J Live in Aberdeen.
