AGR to manage drilling of Skipper well project
AGR’s Well Management team is managing the well planning, drilling and reporting of the Skipper well on behalf of our client, Independent Oil and Gas plc ("IOG").
The appraisal well on the Skipper oil discovery lies in Block 9/21a in licence P1609 in the Northern North Sea. The spud date was 23 July 2016.
The well is drilled by Transocean’s Sedco 704 semi-submersible drilling rig. The objective of the operation is to retrieve a reservoir condition oil sample in order to design the optimum Skipper field development plan on behalf of IOG, the development and production focused Oil and Gas Company.
Ian Burdis, EVP UK and West Africa of AGR, comments, “The Skipper well is a very important well for AGR as it is our first well as ‘Well Operator’ under the new 2015 Offshore Safety Directive. Our team of engineers are engaged in well construction, delivering logistics and supply chain support to the operations and managing the drilling of the well securing the highest standards of HSEQ management. AGR well management team has managed over 180 well projects in the North Sea and delivers increased savings in drilling costs to our clients by offering a one-stop solution comprising engineering, procurement, HSEQ and project management support. We look forward to delivering the Skipper well to IOG.”
