Qualification requirements
Education, experience and competence
 Graduate Engineer in mechanical, mining or petroleum engineering
 Thorough experience in well construction with minimum 5-8 years relevant industry experience
 Profit and Loss understanding, preferably in multi-disciple operations
 Should have experience with workovers and completions
 Have sufficient understanding of risk management and mitigation
Job specific requirements
 Assist the Lead Drilling Engineer in the front end of well engineering planning, design and execution relating to the drilling activities
 Prepare drilling and work-over / well intervention programs for platform infill wells, slot reclamations, subsea production and exploration wells
 Prepare cost estimates for all program types above
 Follow up the daily drilling costs and third party suppliers
 Capture lessons learned and ensure these get incorporated in subsequent programs and shared with the wider drilling and completion team within company
 Prepares the Basis of Well Design & Drilling Design document
 Preparation of the Drilling & Operational programs
 Participates in Functional Reviews
 Plan wells using all available software
 Prepares budget timings and costs based on historical drilling performance – deterministic and probabilistic
 Ensures proper communication between sub-surface, petroleum technology and well engineering.
 Forecasts and plans medium and long term needs to meet program delivery requirements
 Participates in selection and evaluation of service companies, suppliers and equipment
 Prepares End of Well Reports
 Performance monitoring & Continuous Improvement
 Identify and share best practices and learning; implement best practice as appropriate
