Brasse discovery turns out to be one of the largest discoveries

AGR's Well Management team delivers the exploration project ahead of time and to budget.
AGR was assigned the Well Management services by Faroe Petroleum and project managed the drilling of an exploration well and technical sidetrack in the central part of the Norwegian North Sea.

At the time of delivery, the project was the first on the Norwegian Continental Shelf to be delivered under an ‘all in one’ cost agreement for pre-lay of anchors and chains.

Our engineering teams were tasked with designing and project managing the drilling of the wells. Their unrelenting focus on cost and the environment ensured the well was delivered on budget and met the highest HSEQ standards. Not only was the well located in a highly active fishing area that required the most stringent safety and environmental monitoring, but the team was also involved in bringing the cold-stacked semi-submersible Transocean Arctic back to perfect working order.

The Brasse discovery well reached a total depth of 2,780 metres and the initial sidetrack to the 2,530 metres (MD) in water depth of 118.6 metres. The discovery is in licence PL740 and Faroe Petroleum is the 50% operator.

The record achieved during the project covers the hookup to the 8 chain pre-laid mooring system which was done in only 6.5 hours. Another record covers the drilling of the 36” hole section which was the fastest drilled in Norway with an average ROP of 13.2 m/hour including connections.
